چکیده

As the possibility of safe escape is one most crucial aspects a building’s fire safety features, understanding human behaviour under conditions important for successful evacuation. Although today’s buildings are equipped with systems, can still occur at anytime and anywhere in building have devastating consequences. In last decade, researchers practitioners used information technology to assist design emergency management. Building Information Modelling (BIM) an exemplar process whose underpinning digital has been helpful design, simulation, analysis, but there lack research on how BIM-based models combined agent-based simulations help improve evacuation via effective navigation wayfinding high-rise residential buildings. Customising instructions based BIM, simulation results occupant location, delivery these bespoke occupants’ smartphones during relatively novel needed realise potential this approach. Therefore, study investigates customised delivered each could result faster incident. The adopted case Pathfinder (agent-based software) simulate from eleven-floor Cairo, Egypt. Constraining evacuees (simulated agents Pathfinder) take particular exit routes was as proxy delivering actual evacuees. Simulation show that, general, allowing use lifts benefit disabled occupants lead their misuse by able-bodied occupants; would attempt first visible point regardless crowded it is. With optimally instructions, time was, average, 17.6 min (almost 50%) shorter than when occupant’s choice egress route simulated standard path planning factors such length, nearby crowds hazards. sent smartphones, more rapidly alternative routes. Such were shown reduce adverse effects crowdedness uneven distribution along vertical horizontal time.

Simulation Model of Pedestrian Evacuation in High-Rise Building: Considering Group Behaviors and Real-Time Fire

Many fire evacuation models have been proposed in recent years to better simulate such as an emergency situation. However, fire has different characters in high-rise building, and is affected by all kinds of factors. Evacuation of persons in case of fire is very complex, the environment will affected it, the individual psychological quality and physical quality, real time fire and so on. The nu...

Factors associated with high-rise evacuation: qualitative results from the World Trade Center Evacuation Study.

INTRODUCTION Due to the fact that most high-rise structures (i.e., >75 feet high, or eight to ten stories) are constructed with extensive and redundant fire safety features, current fire safety procedures typically only involve limited evacuation during minor to moderate fire emergencies. Therefore, full-scale evacuation of high-rise buildings is highly unusual and consequently, little is known...

Validation of agent based crowd egress simulation

Crowd behavior simulation has been an active field of research because of its utility in several applications such as emergency planning and evacuations, designing and planning pedestrian areas, subway or rail-road stations, besides in education, training and entertainment. The most advanced and realistic simulation systems employ intelligent autonomous agents with a balance between individual ...

Agent-Based Simulation of Spatial Cognition and Wayfinding in Building Fire Emergency Evacuation

There is a need to understand how people and environment react in a fire building emergency. Sometimes in the wayfinding process decision errors may occur mainly based on topological errors of the signage. A situation is critical if a decision about which path to take cannot be made with certainty, especially in a crisis situation. An agent-based simulation of human’s behavior in escaping from ...

Modeling Social Groups and Roles in Egress Simulation

Emergency evacuation (egress) design and planning are important aspects in building and facility engineering. Studies of past emergency events indicate that evacuating occupants often exhibit social behaviors during the evacuation process. Such behaviors are often shaped by pre-existing social relationships and influenced by perceived information. This paper describes an on-going research effor...
